BRAINY BITES VOCABBIES

Updated: Jan 27, 2022

The next time you hear a phrase like, “it’s okay if you make a mistake” or "you're not in any trouble if you made a mistake."

STOP! Control the fire burning within, channel it, and say this, " I have no issue accepting any mistakes that I make. It is a part of my learning process and will happen within my career."

Dear Managing Staff or Employment Authority,

Are you aware of the assertion "making a mistake" when communicating?

Probably not. If you were, you wouldn't perceive a mistake as wrong or bad.

Be more concerned with people that never make mistakes.

Why?

Well, ask yourself.:

  • Are these people perfect? No such human being.

  • Do they understand a process so thoroughly a mistake is a forgone conclusion? Even the skilled of us error.

  • Is the environment too rigid? More than probable.

  • Is the work being done independently, or is it hidden (copying others)?

A mistake performs two tasks: 1) gauges your skill level, and 2) shows how to do something better or worse. Fearing a mistake isn't normal, and anyone thinking or saying so should be avoided as soon as possible.
