Engaging Employees During Chaotic TIMES...

Let me publicly state I'm sick and tired of what I'm seeing in the world today. As if we've entered some strange reality and all hell has broken loose. Yet we're supposed to act as if nothing's wrong and things are just peachy.

THEY ARE NOT! WE ARE (PHYSICALLY & EMOTIONALLY EXHAUSTED!

Trust me when I tell you this, regardless of your status in society. The chances of a traumatic event, a volley of emotions, or even loss have occurred. While babies, animals, and technology speed in their progressions, humanity is taking a brutal beating. A clashing of personal experiences against distorted realities resulting in disfigured futures is what we're facing. If that wasn't enough, employment, an extension of our environment, mirrors the same. Wait! There's hope.

Business owners can no longer focus solely on making money, nor can they leave the sensitivity of their workforce in the hands of delegated staff while turning a blind eye. Companies that stand out as beacons of stellar workplaces have high employee and customer loyalty service programs and ratings. Balancing employee and customer care is daunting but not impossible.

Better employee engagement generates quality customer care. Here are a few tips to engage your workforce during chaotic times.:

  • Identify and understand what collectively matters most to your employees'.

  • Less talk. More action. Decisive action speaks volumes.

  • Don't Band-Aid. Continuous refining your workforce infrastructure is a must. Reinforcing positive lasting changes incrementally works better than applying hasty temporary fixes.

  • Educate, educate, educate is offering programs to enhance skill sets that encourage promotable opportunities.

  • Put yourself in someone else's shoes. Termination is at the forefront of employees' thoughts. Be transparent about your business's forecast and how it impacts your employees. Similarly, understanding issues like child/elderly care, housing, and transportation have become persistent challenges for your workforce. Account for such when working with HR.

  • Start from the top. If you want a better workforce and employee working environment begin with yourself. When everyone sees the change from the highest levels, implementation is seamless.

Better working environments and employee relations increase retention. Retention cultivates job security. Job security harnesses creativity. Creativity dually showcases best efforts and growth.
