Contrary to popular belief, you don't need to be wealthy or famous to be an effective mentor.
Mentorship requires a willingness to see someone other than yourself shine, doing what they love - receiving rewards for their efforts. Items to keep in mind if you desire to pursue mentorship.:
Take it seriously.
Listen meaningfully and respond truthfully.
Assess where you can help from the point they presently are.
Don't overshadow someone's path by making them a duplicate of yourself.
If you believe you have invaluable knowledge and experience to share with others, mentoring could be for you. You never know how impactful your guidance can be for others. Being a mentor is both an honor and a privilege to mentor. A collaborative partnership where reciprocation has far-reaching rewards.

Situational Mentoring - This is what we use in our division. It allows for a transfer of ideas, knowledge and skills to a junior (or new) employee, on a non-structured level. You feel empowered and more fulfilled when you see a person who's benefitted and grown from your tutelage. If the person needs to learn a specific skill or trade, they are paired with a mentor to coach them as they learn. Situational mentoring is used to train new hires how to use a certain system or platform, as more seasoned employees mentor them until they get comfortable using the system on their own.
