The Curious Alliance: FORGIVENESS/Employment World

I bet the association of forgiveness and the world of employment (industry, sector, market, etc.) never come to mind.

Why would it?

Collectively, our recent past/present and near future seem to favor unscrupulous business owners, bad behavior, and a wealth gap hurled into a dizzying fever pitch of mayhem and despair.

Now let me tell you why this association, not just words, is necessary.

The employment world is no different than any other relationship. Past pain and traumas affect present exchanges.

Ex:

• An embittered employee lashing out at coworkers due to ill-treatment from the employer.

• A malicious owner (business) terrorizes their staff resulting from past employee betrayal.

FORGIVENESS, taking responsibility (minimizing pain) for your feelings by choosing to remain in control when others invade your boundaries through less than respectful or decent acts.

At some point, no matter your status in the world of employment, a lack of forgiveness limits your progression. A word to the wise already occupying positions of status and power overlooking this invaluable skill, what goes up always comes down.
