I saw this post and thought, what an extraordinary way to start the celebration of WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH 2022, by spotlighting backward thinking regarding women in the world of business (society).
Look, no one's blind here. On the off chance you are, let's have an Eyes Wide Shut moment.
In the 21st century, there's still an uphill battle of unrequited injustices, which shouldn't even be an issue in our so-called evolved society women endure.
Close your eyes. Come on time's ticking.
Imagine telling a lie or capitalizing on the fears of others to gain and maintain authority (I know. I know. You've never told a lie before. For the sake of time, I want you to focus, so think hard (lol)). Couple that with never intending on setting the record straight (make it right) for whatever reason and let it marinate.
Now, open your eyes. Tada this is the world we live in today.
Again, why?
If you notice, I keep referencing TIME. It's because we could spend forever trying to understand this mess. I'll spotlight the top picks.:
Globally, we are biased by patriarchy (male-driven leadership).
Media's agenda to negatively target women (esp. political, business leaders) while approving mainstream misogyny (ingrained prejudice against women)
ISMs (sexism, racism) only add to the lie(s)
Lack of defining, validating, and challenging traditional roles such as caregiver
Economic imbalance (Equal Pay)
There's an all-abrasive war in the business world against women in business, hell in society at large, occurring since the dawn of man (it's there even if you don't think it is). All wins get eclipsed by the billions of losses. Yet, women bold enough to believe and have faith in their gifts and talents brave the battle head-on. One would think human beings would've evolved beyond agendas benefitting a few impeding most. Sadly, this isn't the case.
The last place anyone should want sexism is in the world of business. Business should be based solely on quality commerce, but this isn't the world we reside. We reside in a world that chooses:
Customers/clients knowingly paying for or engage companies catering to their biases regardless of substandard products or services
Labels meant to assist businesses, e.g., small-business, women-owned, black-owned, having counter effects
Women-owned businesses facing exponentially more issues - financing (investing), inequalities, social constraints, and support than their male counterparts
It's unclear when or even if the world will ever accept women as equals, especially in business. My advice to all customers and clients alike is simply this.
Don't miss out on opportunities to strengthen or excel in your business due to sexism or racism. Women in business are equally capable of providing or exceeding expectations for your company's needs.
The only way forward is broadening minds(sets) to banish nonsensical ideologies based on lies and conjectures. Hoping women shrink into oblivion of society is ludicrous and a waste of untapped natural resources.
Please understand women are going nowhere in the world of business (even amid the cleverest tactics & systems to dissuade) so accept it or move out of the way. Business is highly predicated on connections and relationships. The woman-owned business you piss off today may be the one you'll need tomorrow.
Genius, creativity, trailblazers, or innovators have no gender. Remember that the next time you're looking for products and services.
